We all decided to have their engagement session a few days after Brad proposed in Whistler. Chelsea is from the East Coast and wanted to capture the beauty of the West Coast in her engagement photos while her wedding photos would have the East. So, we started at Whytecliff Park and ended in moody, romantic Gastown. However, It poured that day; like it flash flooded the local Starbucks, poured, and we were going to go for it. I prepared for the crazy weather we were inevitably going to have with rain boots and clear umbrellas to keep my gorgeous couple somewhat dry.
The great thing about shooting in the rain at a popular photo location, is that you tend to be the only people there. We embraced the rain and I fell inlove with their session. It was moody and dark and so beautiful. We had the crazy rain for about 20 minutes and then it stopped and opened up to stunning cloud cover and an orange glow on the horizon. Chelsea went all out by the end of it, completely throwing her shoes off and walking through the water to get to where I needed her and Brad to be. It gave me all the feels.
We stopped at Gastown on the way back to Maple Ridge and it was perfect. Brad and Chelsea quickly changed outfits and had a little time to just relax and enjoy the night life around them while I quietly took photos behind them. The dark lit alleys and old gas lamp posts were a perfect contrast to their beachy start and it was hands down my favourite engagement session to date. These two are seriously perfection.
