I actually met Brad and Chelsea through a giveaway I did back in May at Once Upon A Tea Leaf in Maple Ridge. They had won a free engagement session for the following summer season. We met up for coffee to introduce ourselves and learn a bit more about each other and I quickly discovered an important piece of jewelry missing from Chelsea's hand.. I didn't want to ask just incase I was stepping on toes or something but, as we started talking more, Chelsea let me know that they weren't actually engaged yet. I just remember the almost frantically quick response from Brad, that it would be happening soon. They had planned for an engagement, after being together for a few years, it just hadn't quite happened yet. It really was no big deal and if anything, I could help Brad get the ball rolling!
I kept in touch with Brad over the following months because he had plans to propose to Chelsea on a amazing trip to Whistler. One of her hopes to Brad was that somehow the proposal would be documented, I was totally ready to go stealth. So, the day finally came, and I was sitting, crouched in a bush at Lakeside Park in Whistler, ready to capture the whole thing on camera. They had made it down the path and I hadn't been seen (happy dance) so I popped up a little from behind the bushes and started shooting. Brad popped the question, Chelsea said yes and I quickly ran down the hill to get a better angle, managing not to fall on my face or disrupt the moment (whoo-hoo). Chelsea didn't even realize I was there until I was 5 feet infront of her, it was perfect.
